Campbell River, BC extends CRadvantage fiber optic network to improve broadband access
Campbell River, BC CRadvantage Fiber Optic Extended Network
In Progress
The city added new fiber lines from the network's downtown core west along 11th Avenue. CRadvantage allows Internet service providers to lease network space accessible by residential and commercial customers. Participating ISPs offer competitive prices to subscribers and the city's ownership of fiber-optic lines protects against a monopoly. CRadvantage became Vancouver Island's first municipal broadband network when initial lines were connected in 2017.
