Haarlem, NH SMART sewage traps to reduce rat nuisance

The Municipality of Haarlem deployed SMART sewage traps designed to tackle the rat nuisance in the Vondelkwartier sewer system. The SMART sewage traps detect heat and movement in order to capture and kill rats. The SMART sewage traps do not use poison or bait and they do not affect wastewater flow.
