Honolulu, HI non-medical 911 emergencies responses
The Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department is deploying Crisis Outreach Response Engagement teams to handle 911 calls that do not warrant a trip to the emergency department. In these scenarios, low acuity patients who do not need advanced life support ambulances are transported to alternative emergency care sites. These alternatives were added in response to higher volumes of 911 calls in order to improve EMS response times during medical emergencies.
Newsworthy
Calls to 911 for medical help grow while on-time responses are on the decline due to the current heavy demand. Big changes are underway in how callers are serviced. Always Investigating looked into what patients can expect and what their rights are.
