Marin County, CA All-Electric Transit Fleet Bus Acquisitions

Marin Transit approved the purchase of four all-electric buses from Gillig LLC. The 40-foot buses each contain 34 seats with an average range of 145 miles per charge. Marin County successfully tested two electric buses during a one-year pilot. The initial rollout found emission reductions of 5.3 metric tons with an average range of 120 miles. Transit officials believe existing technology can serve 40% of current routes. The county is aiming for a 100% electric bus fleet by 2040.
