Mecklenburg County, NC 3D audio wayfinding park program
The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department is the first in the state to offer a 3D audio-based wayfinding program for visually impaired visitors. The program uses the Microsoft Soundscape mobile app to help visually impaired visitors navigate the James Boyce Park trails safely and independently. The mobile app plays varying pitches and tones in each ear as sound cues to help the user navigate these wide-open spaces.
