Midlothian Council, GB takes multi-faceted approach to poverty support with #MidlothianCares
Midlothian Council, GB #MidlothianCares Poverty Support
The initial component of #MidlothianCares was a Heat and Eat fund for residents not eligible for Scottish Welfare assistance. Council leaders approved a three-month pilot of free weekly laundry services for up to 200 residents. Additional features of the campaign include warm & well hubs at a local high school and a three-month reheatable meal program. #MidlothianCares was introduced as local families struggled with rising energy, food, and housing costs ahead of the winter season.
