New Plymouth District Council, NZ recycled plastic roads
In Progress
New Plymouth District Council partnered with EnviroNZ, Road Science and Downer to trial a new material for road resurfacing. The material, Plas Mix, is created by mixing recycled plastic waste and asphalt. According to Road Science testing, the new material should be stronger and more cost-effective than traditional asphalt. The trial is utilising 500kg of residential recycled plastic for local road resurfacing.
