North Tyneside Council, GB Unused Garages Housing HUSK
The council identified 52 public garages that became targets for graffiti and illegal dumping after their closure. HUSK will convert these garages into nine two-bedroom homes using its modular retrofitting process. This process removes garage roofs and places modular wooden frames within existing walls. HUSK homes include insulated frames, rooftop solar panels, and air-source heat pumps for low energy usage.
