The Municipality of Örebro created a junk hunt event to encourage residents to pick up rubbish. Participants posted pictures on social media with the hashtag #haldörebrorent after filling a bag with rubbish found littered in the area. Each participant was automatically entered into a drawing for a chance to win two movie tickets. The junk hunt event was the first initiative in the new Örebro municipal waste plan designed to reduce local litter.
