The council's Environmental Services team switched vehicles from diesel to hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) for the six-month pilot. Go Plant Fleet Services provided a biofuel tank and technical guidance during the fuel switch. The pilot tests HVO benefits including an estimated emissions reduction of 2.3 kilograms per liter and improved efficiency in cold weather.
