Perry, IA self-sustaining solar-powered buildings

In Progress

The city of Perry partnered with Red Lion Renewables to building solar canopies on concrete footings that are 3 feet wide by 12 feet deep in order to withstand powerful derecho wind storms. The city will use this series of solar panel installations in its plan to develop 10 self-sustaining solar-powered buildings. The city's goal is to save nearly $5 million on electricity bills and reduce its carbon footprint to zero.
