Monroe County, NY and Rochester launch Nurse Navigator program for non-emergency 911 calls

Monroe County, NY licensed nurses non-emergency 911 calls

In Progress

Monroe County partnered with the city of Rochester and American Medical Response to launch a Nurse Navigator program. During 911 calls involving certain non-emergency injuries and illnesses, dispatchers will connect callers directly with a licensed nurse instead of sending an ambulance. The nurse assess the caller’s symptoms and facilitates the most appropriate medical care response such as a virtual doctor's appointment, self-care instructions, visiting an urgent care center, etc.
