The town of Boone and Watauga County have consolidated their emergency operations by merging 911 dispatch centers. According to the Watauga County Emergency Services Director, the merger will streamline call response, make it easier for dispatchers to deploy first responders, and address the issue of calls being directed to the wrong dispatch due to cellphone GPS coordinates.
