Amsterdam, NH tests electric waste barges for improved collection in city center districts

Amsterdam, NH Electric Waste Barge Improved Collection

In Progress

The six-month pilot will test barge use during Monday and Thursday morning collections. All-electric barges in the Red Light District and Nieuwmarkt carry trash from the shoreline to a processing plant. Waste management officials are adding street sweepers and canal nets to collect loose trash left by the collection process. Amsterdam hopes that the barge pilot decreases tailpipe emissions and traffic on heavily traveled bridges.
