Asbury Park, NJ Partners Substance Abuse Support Pilot

Asbury Park officials seek a solution to increased rates of opioid addiction. Police officers are collaborating with Support Team for Addiction Recovery (STAR) staffers during the three-month pilot. STAR is engaged on every weekday 911 call involving substance abuse issues. The pilot includes overnight and weekend interventions for urgent cases. One-on-one consultations assess the individual's needs prior to referrals, coaching, and case management.
