Birmingham City Council, GB Comfort Care Trial Energy Use
In Progress
Tenants of 300 council homes will see their gas-powered appliances replaced by electric alternatives. The council also plans home energy upgrades for each unit including heat pumps, temperature sensors, and new insulation. Participants pay comfort charges for these improvements but their monthly utility bills will drop an estimated 15%. Birmingham City Council is evaluating how Comfort Care can be scaled up for carbon neutrality across 60,000 council homes by 2030.
