Buckinghamshire Council, GB evaluates energy-generating road surfaces in Aylesbury
Buckinghamshire Council, GB Energy-Generating Road Aylesbury
Aylesbury's Fairford Leys village features piezoelectric roads that generate energy from vehicles compressing the surface layer. Nearby batteries hold this electricity for distribution to traffic sensors and smart light poles. The roadside sensors evaluate traffic density, speed, and vehicle types. Buckinghamshire Council will work with local officials to target ideal locations for additional smart roads and traffic improvements following the two-year pilot.
