Conwy County Borough Council, GB tracks recycling habits with Digital Deposit Return Pilot

Conwy County Borough Council, GB Deposit Return Pilot

Planning

A four-week pilot will distribute Polytag recyclable bottles to households in Colwyn Heights. Polytag uses spectrum marking scannable by the company's mobile app. Participants scan bottles before tossing them in recycling bins for collection or drop-offs at the recycling center. Each scanned recyclable leads to a digital token worth 20 pence that is donated to a local school. Local and national officials will use data from this first-in-Wales trial to improve recycling practices.
