Detroit, MI Co-Response Pilots Mental Health Emergency

The 911 Integrated Response pilot assigns Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) specialists to work with city dispatchers on referrals for mental health crises. Specially trained police officers are paired with DWIHN specialists on targeted crisis interventions. The Homeless Outreach Team connects unhoused residents to city house specialists who locate permanent housing options. These pilots include 40 hours of crisis intervention training for assigned personnel.
