Exeter City Council, GB takes on coffee pod build-up in landfills with recycling initiative

Exeter City Council, GB Coffee Pod Recycling Initiative

Planning

Exeter is working with a Nestle-back nonprofit called Podback to shift single-use pods from landfills to recycling centers. City residents will sort coffee pods into bags attached to their recycling bins. Waste collection teams package these pods at the Materials Reclamation Facility for delivery to recycling partners. The Podback partnership first addresses select brands like Nespresso with the long-term goal of recycling 100% of pods consumed in the United Kingdom.
