The city allowed residents to purchase curbside pickup tags or drop off mattresses at the Lindsay Ops landfill. Each recycling option was priced at $15 per item. Waste management teams extracted recyclable materials from mattresses that would have otherwise gone into landfills. The pilot resulted in 2,000 mattresses recycled through its first six months, saving $143,000 in disposal costs.
