Lethbridge, AB conducts a summer pilot to reduce brush fires through goat grazing
Lethbridge, AB Goat Grazing Summer Pilot Brush Fire
Complete
The pilot aims to limit wildfires in undeveloped areas of Lethbridge. Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services deployed goats twice during the summer. Goats grazed on weeds identified by provincial officials as likely causes for past fires. City officials selected Alexander Wilderness Park and Indian Battle Park because of their proximity to neighborhoods. A successful pilot could lead to targeted grazing in other parks in subsequent seasons.
