London, ON Veteran Tree Incentive Program Maintenance

The one-year pilot encourages households to maintain Distinctive Trees on their lots. Distinctive Trees are at least 50 centimeters in diameter and at least 1.4 meters tall. London provides up to $1,000 CAD per tree for qualifying maintenance by residents. Actions eligible for the program include moving structures away from aging trees and working with arborists to remove difficult-to-reach gypsy moth infestations.

The City of London Municipal Council approved the new City of London Tree Protection By-law C.P.-1555-252 at it’s November 24, 2020 meeting with it going into effect March 1, 2021. Residents, industry experts, prior users of the permitting system and the Trees & Forests Advisory Committee were consulted as part of the crafting of the by-law.
