London, ON Single-Use Recyclable Pilot Canada First
The city partnered with Reynolds Consumer Products to recycle single-use plastics often sent to the landfill. Households participating in the Hefty EnergyBag Pilot receive orange recycling bags for straws, plastic wrap, and hard foam. Participants in five neighborhoods leave full bags next to bins for collection and four neighborhoods are asked to drop bags at EnviroDepots. Recycled materials are sent to companies that use plastics for construction materials and outdoor furniture.
