New Plymouth District Council deployed six new electric rubbish trucks for the new landfill and food scraps bin collection service. The electric trucks redirect food scraps, which previously made up 40% of landfill rubbish, to be used for composting. This new electric fleet service was designed to cut carbon emissions and reduce landfill waste as part of the Council's Zero Waste by 2040 initiative.
