The council added bins at its four Customer Service Centres for X-ray film disposal. Northern Beaches gathers and sends collected X-rays to a Melbourne-based refinery. X-ray films are broken down into raw materials for roadwork and silver. This free program eliminates a source of toxic waste from local landfills.
