Plymouth City Council, GB improves marine plastic waste collection with autonomous WasteSharks
Plymouth City Council, GB WasteSharks Plastic Collection
Initial deployment at the Turnchapel Wharf will expand to the Plymouth Sound during the pilot. The all-electric robots gather up to 43 gallons of waste per trip with a per-charge range of three kilometers. University of Plymouth researchers gather WasteShark data on waste volumes and types. Local officials plan naming and design competitions to engage area residents. Plymouth is working with Marine AI and MSUBS on vehicle improvements for targeted waste collection.
