Somerset County Council, GB Recycle More Waste Partnership
Recycle More added a 60-liter blue bag to the three-bin system used by the Somerset Waste Partnership. Residents place plastic trays and food cartons in the bag for weekly collection. The new program also allows the disposal of batteries and small electronics in a separate bag. Somerset Waste Partnership trialed Recycle More in Mendip before countywide expansion through early 2022. Local officials anticipate decreased bin contamination and illegal dumping due to increased recycling.

Eighty-four percent of Recycle More survey respondents preferred the new recycling method to the previous method. Participating councils won the Environmental Services category at LGC Awards 2022.
