Utrecht, NL floating solar panel island
In Progress
The Municipality of Utrecht is installing a floating solar panel island to provide 1400 households with sustainable energy. The island will occupy 14% of a lake about 150 meters from shore where it will not interfere with nature or recreation. In fact, the solar panel island will not even be visible from the shore due to the surrounding marsh plants. The island will generate a relatively high yield of 4 million kWh annually due to the natural cooling and light reflection from the lake water.
