Yarra Ranges, VIC boosts playtpus habitats with residential smart water tank pilot
Yarra Ranges, VIC Residential Smart Water Tank Pilot
State-owned utility South East Water developed Tank Talk technology to enable remote-controlled water releases. Yarra Ranges will distribute smart tanks to households near catchment areas in 2022. Recipients can pre-program or manually release excess water into local waterways used by dwindling platypus populations. Household smart tanks and two smart storage units improve the shire's biodiversity while reducing flood damage.
