Greater Geelong, VIC undertakes food organics collection pilot ahead of citywide adoption
Greater Geelong selected 1,500 households in the town of Lara for the one-year pilot. Participating homes received orange curbside bins, kitchen caddies, and compostable bags for eco-friendly disposal. Food waste is gathered with other bins during the regularly scheduled weekly collection and processed in two composting units. Council surveys and workshops will determine how the pilot can be applied to neighboring communities starting in 2023.
