Fort Lauderdale, FL maintains a smart vehicle fleet with telematics

The City of Fort Lauderdale's Fleet Services department used telematics technology in hundreds of police cars, firetrucks and other city vehicles to significantly reduce fleet downtime, reduce idle time and decrease overall fuel consumption. Rather than relying on drivers to report potential vehicle problems, real-time diagnostic data from their telematics system allowed the city to see engine fault codes and to quickly diagnose maintenance issues.

Charlotte, NC collaborates with Tiny Mile on deployment of delivery robots in Plaza Midwood

Five Tiny Mile robots deliver coffee and food from Undercurrent Coffee to customers in a one-mile radius. Remote operators navigate the robots around foot traffic with 360-degree cameras and sensors. Neighborhood residents arrange deliveries on a dedicated mobile app or by scanning QR codes on the robots. City officials are using the two-month pilot - Tiny Mile's first project in the United States - to evaluate low-impact options for delivery services.

Coventry City Council, GB Project SAVOR tests autonomous vehicles in city center traffic

Project SAVOR consisted of two weeks of real-world autonomous vehicle testing. A Ford Ranger and a Nissan ENV200 were equipped with Conigital's ConiCAV system for Gosford Street trips. Remote operators monitored vehicle performance through challenges like a diamond interchange. Each vehicle also had a driver on board in case of technical problems. Project partners Coventry University and Applus IDIADA are evaluating how the city can support autonomous driving in the future.
