Bedford Borough Council, GB converts Elstow landfill into Green Technology and Innovation Park
The capped 30-hectare landfill will house an education center and office space dedicated to technology research. A solar installation comprised of 1,800 panels supplies the innovation park with zero-emissions energy. The solar energy infrastructure will encourage park tenants to adopt sustainable practices. Borough officials anticipate the Green Technology and Innovation Park will open in 2022 and advance its campaign for carbon neutrality by 2030

Bedford Borough Council, GB cuts down on fleet emissions with e-cargo bike purchases
Borough officials acquired six e-cargo bikes with help from the national government's E-Cargo Bike Grant Fund. Four bikes are split between the council's Sustainable Transport and Street Cleaning Teams for daily use. The University of Bedfordshire and local bike shop Flamme Rouge Cycles each received a bike on loan for demonstration purposes. Bedford Borough Council pursued national funding to ease its path to net-zero fleet emissions by 2050.

Central Bedfordshire Council partnered with Bedford Borough Council and Milton Keynes Council to launch the "My Quit Route" mobile app. The app is provided by the Stop Smoking Service to help local smokers quit. The app is available for free on Android or iOS devices to any residents of the three councils and it offers personalised service at all times. My Quit Route assesses nicotine dependence, provides behavior management support, tracks the user's progress, and offers relaxation techniques.

Central Bedfordshire Council collaborated with Luton Borough Council and Bedford Borough Council to launch the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) pilot programme. The FDAC was created as a new alternative to care proceedings which helps families of children at risk for parental substance misuse. This two-year pilot will work with 21 families in the first year and 30 families in the second year across all three councils.
