Flintshire County Council, GB builds sustainable job skills during Second Chance upcycling courses
Project operator Hft recruited 20 volunteer teachers for cohorts of up to 75 adults with learning disabilities. Upcycling courses taught participants in the first cohort how to bring old bikes back into use. Future courses expanded upcycling projects to household electronics and furniture. Refurbished items are sold at two storefronts as well as Etsy and eBay shops. Flintshire County Council uses revenues from product sales to fund Second Chance.

Flintshire County Council published an interactive map on its website to support residents living with dementia. The map highlights locations of local dementia-friendly communities, memory cafés, and support services. Users can search the map to find locations alongside bus stops and community facilities. The street-view option allows users to see an image of the location to help them recognize their destination and landmarks.

Flintshire County Council, GB launched a Micro-Care recruitment programme for resident services
Flintshire County Council launched a Micro-Care programme to increase the number of local businesses able to provide care to its residents. Micro-Care businesses contain five or fewer employees that offer a range of services to vulnerable residents such as shopping, cleaning, or companionship. The Council is working with potential providers to increase the number of operational Micro-Care businesses and continues to recruit new businesses from the local community.
