Freiburg im Breisgau, BW Street Tree Digital Registry

Freiburg contracted with a tree inventory firm to evaluate the city's 43,000 street-side trees. Certified inspectors determine each tree's age, species, diameter, and height. The city's civil engineering teams are working with Albert Ludwig University to turn the evaluations into a public database. City departments will use the database to integrate tree health into their work with parks and playground trees added at later dates.
