Järfälla, SE converts its fixed-route autonomous shuttle pilot into a permanent on-demand service
Municipal leaders began the Res i Barkarby pilot with transit operators SL and Nobina in 2018. Electric shuttle rides followed pre-programmed paths to 30 transit stops in the Barkarbystaden. Commuters can now request rides in the same service area using a dedicated mobile app. Res i Barkarby operates seven days a week with passenger pick-ups completed in about 10 minutes. Transit routing software identifies the most efficient routes based on current traffic and rider destinations.

The Municipality of Järfälla created the Sportoteket sports library where residents can borrow equipment for cross-country skiing, ice skating, and snowboarding. Residents can borrow any sports equipment from the library for two weeks at a time for free. Residents can also donate any of their old or unused sports equipment to the library. The municipality's labor market unit repairs any damaged equipment before allowing residents to borrow it.

The Municipality of Järfälla partnered with Triply to install bicycle boxes where residents can safely park their bicycles. The Triply bicycle boxes are a safe, easy, and flexible alternative to traditional bicycle parking spots. Cyclists can register online to link an access card with Triply which they can then use to unlock their bicycle box using the designated card reader. The membership costs 80 SEK per month and the bicycle box must be accessed at least once every two months.
