Newcastle, NSW evaluates the impacts of recycled biofilters on roadside drainage during pilot
Newcastle, NSW Recycled Biofilter Roadside Drainage Pilot
Raingardens at six locations incorporate recycled glass and compostable material for biofiltration. This unique soil mixture filters street pollutants in stormwater on its way to local rivers and wetlands. Recycled biofilters differ from traditional drainage techniques by absorbing heat and providing habitats for local wildlife. Researchers at the University of Newcastle will collect and analyze data during this world-first pilot.
