Newcastle, NSW incorporates innovative approaches to paid leave into Enterprise Agreement 2023
Newcastle, NSW Enterprise Agreement Innovative Paid Leave
Newcastle identified employee needs for expanded forms of paid leave in a 2021 survey. The Enterprise Agreement 2023 offers 20 days of paid leave for employees facing domestic violence. City officials first introduced 10 days of domestic violence leave in 2018. Additional paid leave options cover miscarriages, cultural events, and military veterans on ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day. The agreement also reduces the upfront costs of city apprenticeships with fully covered tool costs.
