North Yorkshire County Council, GB targets rise in childhood obesity with weight management pilot
North Yorkshire County Council, GB Childhood Weight Pilot
The council's Healthy Choices program ended in 2020 due to budgetary constraints after 80% of participants lost weight. An 18-month pilot expands the existing adult weight management program to accommodate participants' dependents. This program also accepts youth referrals from local practitioners and care providers. Youth participants learn how to make healthier decisions during regular video calls, replacing more costly in-person visits used during the previous initiative.
