Petaluma, CA is planning to ban the development of new gas stations to promote electric vehicles

Petaluma, CA policy banning new gas stations

Planning

The City of Petaluma City Council unanimously voted to ban new gas stations and prohibit existing stations from installing additional gas pumps. The city plans to adopt this policy to discourage the use of fossil fuels, promote the installation of electric vehicle chargers, and encourage residents to purchase electric vehicles. The Council determined that one gas station within a five-minute drive of every residential area in the city was sufficient for the community.
