Prince George, BC RFID tags on residential garbage carts

Complete

The City of Prince George partnered with Lateral Innovation to install Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags on more than 23,000 residential garbage carts. The RFID tags help the City improve customer service by tracking broken, overflowing, or missing garbage carts. The RFID tags also allow staff to pre-plan collection routes and identify households that improperly dispose of recyclables. The project was designed to reduce operational costs, carbon emissions, and landfill waste.
