Prince George, BC bear-resistant garbage cart pilot

Complete

The City of Prince George conducted a bear-resistant residential garbage cart pilot project. The project involved deploying 300 bins certified by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee in a local neighbourhood in order to deter bears from accessing residential garbage. The certified bins cost five times a regular bin but residents were not charged to participate in the pilot. Parks and Solid Waste Services monitored the pilot to determine potential expansions into other neighbourhood areas.
