The GIFT pilot provides monthly payments of $1,200 to 55 transgender and non-binary residents. This 18-month program prioritizes applicants who are also homeless, formerly incarcerated, or live with disabilities. San Francisco is working with Lyon-Martin Community Health Services and The Transgender District on additional services like mental health counseling and financial guidance. GIFT responds to outsized poverty and discrimination faced by transgender residents.
