Durham, NC file backups and robust firewalls
The City of Durham withstood at least two ransomware attacks in 2016 thanks to the city's 90-day file backups and robust firewalls. The ransomware attacks did not affect sensitive data but rather the hackers encrypted files such as word documents, spreadsheets and PowerPoints. The city was able to restore the impacted computers and avoid system-wide damage.
