Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council, GB low-carbon energy
Complete
Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council developed the High-rise Energy Infrastructure for Gateshead Housing Tenants (HEIGHTs) pilot project to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs for residents. The HEIGHTs project involved installing low-carbon heating systems and replacing old electric storage heaters in seven local high-rise blocks. The Council also installed new windows, facades, and roof insulation to help reduce the heat loss for tenants.
Project Succeeded
Tenants in Regent, Ripley, Barford, Stretford, Willerby, Acomb and Bedale Courts are benefiting from savings of between 10 to 20% on their heating bills.
