Mecklenburg County is budgeting $10.4 million to help reduce racial disparities and address the issue of institutionalized racism. If approved, the county will invest $5 million in parks that are located in underserved neighborhoods and $1 million will go to investments in homeownership, workforce development and economic opportunity for marginalized groups. The plan also includes hiring a manager for the county's Office of Equity and Inclusion.
