Warrnambool, VIC Un-retiring the 'Bool Job Vacancies
This first-in-Australia program seeks retired residents interested in temporary or part-time work. Workers and businesses register for free through the council's online survey. Participating seniors indicate their ideal schedule, qualifications, and professional skills. Local businesses receive contact information for qualified participants and handle interviews with prospective workers. An autumn 2023 pilot attracted 85 workers and 50 companies, thus leading to a second round in summer 2023.

Following a successful pilot program earlier this year, Council’s Un-retiring the 'Bool program is back to help match retirees looking for casual work with businesses experiencing staff shortages. With the summer peak period on the horizon, businesses and retirees can now register their interest in the program, which was the first of its kind in Australia. Retirees are asked about their skills, interests and availability, with the contact details of potentially suitable candidates made available to relevant businesses who have registered for the program.
