Warrnambool, VIC turns recycled glass from collection pilot into road surface for Walsh Road
Warrnambool, VIC Recycled Glass Collection Road Surface
The council collected glass bottles from 3,300 homes during a curbside pickup pilot. Warrnambool also installed three glass collection sites throughout the area. Local construction firm Fulton Hogan turned 15 tons of glass into sand for use in asphalt applied to Walsh Road. The pipeline from the recycling bin to the road helps Warrnambool reach its landfill diversion targets while lowering waste management costs.
