Chattanooga, TN collaborates with Branch Technology on 3D-printed shelters for unhoused residents
The Chattanooga-based company produced two shelters on a lot donated by Olivet Baptist Church. Both 3D-printed shelters were built in a single day with fire-resistant and waterproof BranchClad panels. Chattanooga funded its portion of the pilot with $19,000 from its innovation fund. Nonprofit Help Right Here operates the site on behalf of the city and connects participants with services. If successful, the shelters will add a cost-effective component to the city's Housing First policy.

Chattanooga, TN prepares community for quantum network possibilities with Gig City Goes Quantum
City-owned utility EPB set a goal of at least 1,000 learning activities related to quantum technology through May 2023. Virtual courses from partners like Chattanooga State and Oak Ridge National Lab explain the basics of quantum computing. A package of hands-on experiences for students in grades K-12 show applications like AI interactions, object detection, and cybersecurity. Registered participants are entered into a drawing for five Echo Show 10s.

Chattanooga, TN and Nokia build on past connectivity successes with 25 Gig fiber-optic network
City-owned EPB laid the foundations for the 25 GIG network with its gig-speed service in 2010 and 10 gig upgrade in 2015. The Chattanooga Convention Center is the first subscriber to a service available at every address in the city. This project combines existing fiber-optic lines with Nokia's 25G PON technology for cost-efficient connections. 25G PON also supports symmetrical upload and download speeds not found in competitors.

The Chattanooga Police Department launched a new mobile app "Atlas One" to build trust with the community, enhance transparency, and improve public safety. The Atlas One mobile app makes it easier for residents to communicate with officers, submit anonymous tips, and receive alerts on incidents within a few hundred feet of their location. The app uses geofencing technology to trigger an automatic alert whenever the user enters or exists the virtual geographic boundary of an incident.

The city of Chattanooga partnered with Chattanooga State, The Enterprise Center, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce and the American Jobs Center to launch a Google information technology certification training program. The program provides training in computer software, a $4,500 stipend, and child care to help lower income individuals improve their job skills. The program was also designed to boot the local economy by supplying more works for one of the most in-demand occupations.

Chattanooga, TN deployed LiDAR sensors to collect and analyze data from near-crash events
The City of Chattanooga partnered with The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Ouster LiDAR, and Seoul Robotics to collect data on near-crashes by deploying Ouster LiDAR sensors equipped with Seoul Robotics 3D perception software at 11 signalized intersections. The sensors provide 24/7 high-resolution, high-accuracy trajectories of all road users under a range of lighting conditions in order to calculate critical factors which can be used to quantify and characterize near-crash events.

The City of Chattanooga partnered with telecommunications company EPB to launch the HCS EdConnect program. The program provided internet access to 14,000 students in Hamilton County Schools and 11,000 local households by building upon the city's existing fiber-optic infrastructure. The program focused on closing the digital divide by prioritizing high-speed internet access for students enrolled in in reduced lunch programs and families who receive SNAP benefits.
