Köln, NW created a road safety campaign teaching elementary school students about the "blind spot"

Köln, NW "blind spot" road safety campaign for children

Complete

The City of Köln's "Safety in Road Traffic" working group created the "Toter Winkel" campaign to teach elementary school students about the dangers of a driver's blind spot. The concept of the "dead angle" is presented to children in the classroom as they are taught how to recognize and avoid possible dangers as cyclists or pedestrians. The presentation is followed by a practical demonstration in the school yard allowing children to see a "blind spot" from the perspective of a truck driver.
